Amazing.

There's times in history that redefine everything you see, hear, and do from then on.

November 4th was one of those nights.

The feeling I had when I woke up this morning was a feeling unlike any other feeling I've ever had before. (After waking up an hour AFTER the time I was supposed to be AT work, but that's a different episode.)

It literally felt like I lived in a new place. So many people have felt like the possibility of a black president was an impossibility. I myself felt like that. Until the perfect candidate came along, even then it would be extremely hard for him to gain support. Even after the support, people would actually have to ACT on it and go vote.

All of these things happened.

The election of Barack Obama not only shows that anything is possible, but it also shows that America has changed as a whole, in its mentality. People aren't so hung up on race, gender, or anything other than character (for the most part). This entire election was epic, even in the sense that Hillary Clinton ran an excellent campaign. Sarah Palin had the possibility of being the first female VP. 45 years after Martin Luther King had a dream, it's finally been realized and captivated.

Blacks used to be hosed for drinking from water fountains. Killed for looking at white women. Raped for no reason. Enslaved. Disrespected. Counted out. We were looked at as property, preventing us from voting. Even after that, instead of being granted civil liberty, we were "compromised" to being worth 3/5ths of a white man, just for the ability to let us vote, to help THEM get into office or gain land.

Now, an African American man holds the highest office in the modern World. To see Indonesia, Kenya, Asia, celebrating the election of Senator Obama, speaks mounds to what is about to happen to the world.

And I was apart of it.

For those of you who aren't as excited (if at all), and care so much about the well-being of our country because you're SO patriotic, then let's see if you can stand up to your own word. Accept the democratic process for what it is, embrace the fact that, NOT A BLACK MAN, but Barack Obama, is President of the United States of America, and support the head of your country, by doing your part to make America a better country.
